In the middle of February one of my pals suggested to me that I should switch utility suppliers, he already knew that I was toying with the idea, and suggested that I go with the one that he had just changed to, First Utility. I had looked at this energy supplier a couple of years ago and was very interested this time, as my tariff with my current supplier, was coming to an end.
I always look at the following charges when comparing energy suppliers, the cost per unit and the standing charge on both the gas and electric, and as my friend had these to hand it was easy to see that they where slightly less than what I was paying now, also my friend mentioned that both he and I would be entitled to a fifty pound Amazon gift voucher each.
I went ahead and clicked on the link that he had sent me, filled out my details on the online form using my Roboform form filler, this saves me from filling in repetitive forms with just one click, I checked over the form to make sure it was right and that Roboform had not missed anything and then clicked submit.
Some moments later a couple of e-mails arrived welcoming me to First Utility and explaining what was going to happen next, and how to log in to my new First Utility online account. I had chosen the paperless option, as this is discounted by twelve pounds per year per fuel, so in my case, a twenty-four pound saving per year or two pounds per month. All I had to do now was sit back and relax as they would do all the legwork concerning switching from my current supplier.
A few days later I logged back in to my account, I changed the password that First Utility had set for me, and also I wanted to change the date of the direct debit, I prefer my household bills being paid near to the beginning of each month, and this I was able to achieve with ease. I was also informed that they had contacted my current supplier and were waiting to hear back from them.
The switch, I was told would take no more than three weeks to complete, and this includes a fourteen day cooling off period.
After the fourteen day cooling off period, I received instructions via e-mail to send my meter readings to First Utility, and this I did using the phone app. The phone app actually reads the meter for you, all you need to do is open the app and point it at your meter, very clever!
The next day I had two emails in my inbox confirming that my electricity and gas had now been switched to First Utility, all I had to do now was wait for my final bill from my old supplier, First Utility would be sending them the meter readings so my final bill could be produced, I am in credit with my old supplier so the final bill was not a worry to me.
The whole process has taken twenty days to complete and all the legwork has been done by my new supplier, I am now looking forward to cheaper energy bills and I will be monitoring my new account with First Utility.
If you want to switch utility suppliers and want to consider First Utility upon my recommendation then you should click here and if you do switch utility suppliers we will both be entitled to an Amazon Gift Voucher.
