Libre Office is open source software that is free for anyone to download and install on their own PC, is compatible with Mac OS, Windows and Linux operating systems, and features applications similar to Microsoft Office such as Calc, Writer, Impress, Math, Draw and Base.
Calc is very similar to Microsoft Excel and is used to make spreadsheets in order to do complicated calculations used in accounting, bookkeeping, general office tasks such as timesheets and even for personal household accounts.
I use Libre Office Calc to track all of my household finances as well as keeping a watch on my bank account, in particular, the running total of the current balance of my current account. I always know at a glance my exact total that is available in my account.
I made up a spreadsheet using Libre Office Calc that will add and subtract any value that I enter on the spreadsheet and will give me an exact total of my balance.
I do this by keeping receipts after shopping in order to subtract the amount that I have spent and also looking at my monthly outgoings and entering them in the spreadsheet as they are paid through the month. Also entering any credits such as salary, wages and refunds etc. This is basically like a live statement that is always to hand.
On the monthly total sheet that I also made up, I colour in the item once it has been paid so that I can see what I have left to be paid and this gives me an idea of what I can spend or save as I go through each month.
Calc is compatible with Microsoft Excel so if one of your colleagues wants to share a spreadsheet that has been made using Excel, you will be able to view and edit it as you wish and this works vice versa too.
If you want to track your own cash flow and require a copy of my cashflow spreadsheet you can download it from here.
You will also need a copy of Libre Office and you can get that from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/
The Writer application in Libre Office is a word processor similar to Microsoft Word and is used to produce documents and letters and works just as well, if not better than Word. I use this component of Libre Office when I want to type a letter for printing.
Why would you want to spend a monthly or yearly subscription on MS Office when you can have Libre Office totally free, and it will do any office task that you want it to, find out more by going to https://www.libreoffice.org/
